Our Lady of Perpetual Help
For many centuries this picture has been revered throughout the world as an icon of hope. The original icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help is a work of Byzantine art, at least five hundred years old in its present form. In 1866 Pope Pius IX entrusted it to the Redemptorists and told them to "make her known throughout the world." Countless healings and conversions are attributed to her intercession, and each week people around the world gather to pray her novena. Join us every Wednesday.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus spread widely after Our Lord's revelations to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque at the end of the seventeenth century. Through her he made twelve promises to those who practice the devotion:
- I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
- I will give peace in their families.
- I will console them in all their troubles.
- I will be their refuge in life and especially in death.
- I will abundantly bless all their undertakings.
- Sinners shall find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.
- Tepid souls shall become fervent.
- Fervent souls shall rise speedily to great perfection.
- I will bless those places wherein the image of My Sacred Heart shall be exposed and venerated.
- I will give to priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts.
- Persons who propagate this devotion shall have their names eternally written in my Heart.
- To all who receive Communion on the First Fridays for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance; my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour.
To make the nine First Fridays well, make a good confession and receive Holy Communion, offering all that we are and all that we have to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Everybody should make this devotion at least once. At SS. Peter and Paul, the 7:00 p.m. First Friday Mass is followed by Exposition, devotion to the Sacred Heart, Adoration and Benediction.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary
At Fatima in July 1917, Our Lady told Lucia, "I shall come to ask that on the First Saturday of every month, Communions of reparation be made in atonement for the sins of the world." On December 10, 1925, at Pontevedra, Spain, she completed the request and gave her great promise: to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who on the First Saturday of five successive months:
- Go to Confession, which may be made up to a week before or after, offered in reparation.
- Receive Holy Communion in reparation to the Immaculate Heart.
- Pray five decades of the Rosary, meditating on the mysteries.
- Keep Our Lady company for fifteen minutes meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary.
The 9:00 a.m. First Saturday Mass is followed by Exposition, the Rosary, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and Benediction.

Before Pentecost
Novena to the Holy Spirit
The novena to the Holy Spirit is the oldest of all novenas, first made at the direction of Our Lord when he sent the Apostles back to Jerusalem to await the Holy Spirit at the first Pentecost. It begins the day after the Solemnity of the Ascension, the Friday of the sixth week of Easter, and asks for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Polish traditions of Holy Week
Holy Week at SS. Peter and Paul keeps the customs our founding families brought from Poland: the Tomb of the Lord (Grób Pański) prepared for Holy Saturday, and Święconka, the blessing of Easter baskets of bread, salt, eggs and kiełbasa, filling the aisle of the church. These photos are from Holy Week 2024.
